Food Photography

You have great produce, but your customers will often taste your images first

You may have a great food product, but it is your food photography that your customers will taste first. It is the images that you put in front of them that make them want to buy, which is why your food photography should look as irresistible as your product tastes.

childsdesign offers two services for your food photography:

‘Leave it to us’ Service

We can offer you very competitive rates though this easy-to-use service.

Just send us your product/produce and we’ll shoot it for you to show it off in a way that works best.

We will book you in as soon as we have a space in our schedule. This will usually be within two or three days and we’ll be liaise with you to ensure that your products are delivered to us on time and stored safely.

If required, we’ll use props that we already have, but where  your product or produce is more than ‘out of’ the bag, box or jar’ and requires preparation, cooking or more, there may be an additional charge depending on the extra time and work required. We can also offer specific props or small set build, but this can be an expensive or non-essential additional cost – we can advise on this.  If you have your own props that you’d like to use, then you can leave those with us too. If you’re local (north Hertfordshire) we won’t charge to deliver these back to you, but if you’re further afield we’ll charge you our costs for return.

We’ll discuss all of this with you before giving you our quote and make sure that you’re happy with these charges before we commence – you won’t get a surprise bill, it’ll be what we’ve agreed.

This service is ideal for smaller businesses – you pay a ‘per image’ cost – even for five or 10 images. This is very cost effective as you won’t be paying for additional studio time that you may not use. Many photographers will only offer a half or full day’s food photography, regardless of whether you require a handful of simple shots that may take only an hour to shoot.

If you have a large number of images that you’d like to leave with us to shoot, we may be able to work out a further discount for you once we know the quantities and complexity of the shots required.

We know photography is an exciting area of work (that is why we do it), but owing to the sometimes confidential nature of the work that we produce, we are not able to invite clients into the studio for shoots.

Half/Full Day Location (4 or 8 hours)

Depending on how transportable your products are, or how much preparation you may need to do yourselves, this may be a better option for you. By us coming to you we can take reportage style images of you in your workplace creating your produce and showing your craft.

Unfortunately we can’t offer an individual image price for this service, and all travel or additional expenses that we incur will be charged.

On the day booked, we’ll shoot as much as we possibly can for you, make a shortlist selection the following day and carry out any minor retouching on a handful of the images. We will then supply all of these along with the outtakes on disc for you to use as you wish.

Please remember that we’ll need an area to shoot that has reasonable access and space for lighting if required. You will need to allow for an area the size of an average dining table that has access from three sides.

Take a look at our food photography portfolio to see some of the images we’ve already created for our clients.

Talk to us about your next project.

Email or call us to set up an appointment to discuss your next project.

We’re based in Letchworth Garden City in Hertfordshire and are happy to visit you to discuss your requirements if you are based locally to us.
If further afield, that’s not a problem. We can arrange a phone or skype call or even a Google hangout to see if we can help you and to gather enough information from you to give you an initial quote. If you are happy with our quote and would like to engage us to work with you, then we can arrange to meet and discuss further.
