Packaging Design

Commercial solutions for your products.

In many cases your packaging design is likely to be the first contact your customers have with you, so it needs to be eye catching and clearly portray your brand identity. Your design work should perfectly describe your brand and tell your customers everything they need to know about your products inside – this is vitally important in any industry sector, but especially important in the food industry, your food products should look as good as they taste.

Imagine that you are your customer and you’ve seen your product packaging on a shelf – would you pick it up to find out more about the product or would you walk past? If the overall branding makes you want to pick it up, does it then tell you what’s inside, how to use it, what else you need, does it upsell your other products? All of these are important questions and there are many others to consider when designing your packaging – don’t take for granted that your potential customers know as much about your products as you do, they don’t, but do they should have enough information from your packaging to know if it’s the product for them.

childsdesign have had many years of experience working on different award winning packaging design projects for a multitude of products. As a graphic design company we excel in product package design, making our clients’ products stand out on already crowded shelves and not just another box following the latest design trend or colour palette. We make our clients appeal to their target audiences and ultimately, get them sales.

Packaging Design Frequently Asked Question (FAQs)

What exactly does a packaging design agency do?

There is no fixed definition of a packaging design agency, they all do something a little differently to one another. At childsdesign we design packaging surface graphics which can be for any type of packaging or packaging material, be it printed directly onto the packaging or through labelling.

We also design card packaging, working alongside trusted packaging print companies to ensure that they are produced as efficiently and cost effectively as possible.

Can you help me with my food packaging design?

Yes we can. We’ve worked with a large number of food businesses of all sizes, with all types of food products.

We also have knowledge of current labelling requirements for the presentation of nutritional information, ingredients and other legal requirements. All of our food packaging designs have been approved by trading standards on first submission.

I don't know anything about packaging printing, can you help me?

We can help with printing your packaging.

If you already have a packaging printer or supplier we can work with them when designing your packaging to ensure that what we produce is to their print specification.

If you need a printer, or would like to leave it to us, we can deal with thing for you. We do not print ourselves but work with trusted printers that understand what we need to produce and can ensure that your packaging is printed and delivered fuss-free.

I'm using off-the-shelf boxes for my packaging, can you design labels for me?

We can. In fact we design labels for lots of businesses.

We also organise print of most of our label clients. As we print so many different labels we’re often able to get print costs significantly cheaper than most – we’ve cut a £10k invoice from a clients previous suppliers to £2.5k with the same quality and service.

I'm conscious of the environment, are your printers products environmentally friendly?

Some types of packaging material (mainly plastics) aren’t 100% environmentally friendly, but all of our printers paper and card stocks can, and usually are, sustainably sourced or contain recycled materials. Inks are generally vegetable based too.

I'm not sure what materials to use or the best to protect my products during transit, can you help?

We can. We only need to know what your products are and how they are going to be transported, stocked or stored and an idea of budget.

Understanding how products are to be transported will tell us if they will also need a secondard protective package or covering or if they can be safely boxed in bulk within a single outer carton.

I've no brand, logo, text or images for my packaging, will you still be able to help me?

It sounds like you’ll need our help in the first instance to build your brand.

Your packaging should reflect your businesses brand, so getting this right is the right starting point. From here we can help with all the elements you’ll need for your packaging, your sales material and your website (even your own e-commerce website).

Do you have experience designing retail packaging?

We have extensive experience of all types of packaging design across a great number of industries.

We can help with packaging design for both business-to-consumer (b2c) and business-to-business (b2b).
