Brand Design

More than just your logo.

Branding, brand design and graphic design are important to any business but are often overlooked. Many businesses come to us and ask for a logo to be designed for them, thinking this is all that’s needed to create their brand – choose a logo colour, put the logo on to a business card, on the top of your website or in a brochure and you have a brand. If only life could be that simple, your company brand design is so much more.

So, what is brand design and what does it involve. There is a design process behind every strong brand.

To create a brand you need to consider what your customers think, feel, hear, see and read about your company to give your brand personality. You need to consider the meaning that your business has for them and what emotions it brings. A great brand can give your company stability, growth potential, longevity and importantly, it will lead to loyal customers and clients. Your brands identity is something that you really have to think about to achieve these things.

If you can define your company’s or businesses brand there shouldn’t be that much in your way to stop your business becoming very successful.

The best brands have the best stories and those stories help to connect with clients and customers. We have plenty of stories within our website that help tell our potential customers about our brand and those stories are backed up by the client testimonials that we receive.

childsdesign has helped many businesses, both big and small to define their brands from the ground up. We’ve also helped many redefine their brands, introducing some brand design inspiration to kick-start re-brands, allowing them to communicate more easily with their customers and potential customers. To see some of the people that we’ve helped, take a look at our portfolio and then, if you think that we could help you, give us a call or send an email to arrange a meeting to discuss your needs and requirements.

Brand Design Frequently Asked Question (FAQs)

What exactly does a brand design agency do?

There is no fixed definition of a brand design agency, they all do something a little differently to one another. At childsdesign we would say that we do a lot more than just creating a logo, setting typographic styles and setting a colour scheme. We help you understand who your customers and clients are, what they want from you and help you establish more than just a visual brand that these people can identify with, have confidence in and ultimately what to become advocates of your business through sales or otherwise.

We're only a small business, does establishing ourselves as a brand really matter?

It doesn’t matter how big your business is, everything you say, do or present to people is already establishing your brand, so yes, it does really matter – you want to say the right thing and look the right way to the right people to make the right impression.

I don't see the point in brand design, what's it for?

Brand design helps you to be you. In it’s visual form, brand design helps potential customers and clients to recognise your business, its products or services and differentiate you for everyone else in your space.

I hear a lot about brand strategy, do I need one for my business?

If you want to have a successful brand and have success with your marketing, yes, you do need a brand strategy.

Your brand strategy will define the products and services you have, who wants, needs or purchases them, the values you have as a business and much more.

With your brand strategy defining your customers and clients your brand design (or visual identity) becomes easier to develop, ensuring that what’s created will appeal to the values, wants and needs of your targetted audience.

Can't I just get someone to make me a logo?

There’s nothing stopping you from just creating a logo. It’s not something we’d recommend though.

Will you give me loads of brand designs to choose from?

We’ll produce some variants in the brand designs we create for our clients but not dozens of completely different designs.

If we’re working together and communicating with one another, one brand design solution (perhaps with colour variants or font options) should be all that you need as it will answer your brief, appeal to your customers and a adaptable and usable in every situation.

If you are looking for a cheap logo with dozens of options to choose from, we’re prbably not the people for you.

What's a style guide? Do I need one?

A style guide is exactly as it suggests, a guide to how your brand should be used and presented.

We’d recommend that if we’re working with you, however complex or simple your business branding is that we create a style guide.

A style guide will answer a lot of the questions you’ll have going forwards – What fonts do we use? What are our brand colour breakdowns? How much space should we give around the logo? Even in it’s simplest form, as long as it’s adhered to, it keeps your brand consistent.

My current branding is a mess, should I start again?

Well, that depends on a lot of things.

Hidden in the mess may be the elements of a great brand identity, things may just require auditing, assessing and reconfiguring to re-create a strong coherant brand.

Your visual brand should evolve with your business, so unless it’s beyond all hope, we look to evolve first for exisitng businesses, only starting from the ground up where really necessary or with new businesses.
